Financial Aid Disbursement Dates
Disbursement Dates
All financial aid sources (grants, scholarships, loans) disburse at various times throughout the semester as funds are received. Payment of current semester tuition/fee/book charges for all terms are paid by the first financial aid funds applied to your student account. Students receiving multiple types of aid will receive multiple disbursements. Students are notified by email when funds disburse. If you are entitled to a refund, OCCC Bursar Office will process a refund and BankMobile will notify you when it is available. For details, review your account activity on your student portal. Student Responsibility -Federal Student Aid funds are awarded, disbursed and refunded to a student under the assumption that the student will attend school for the entire period for which the financial aid is awarded. When a student withdraws and/or quits attending all classes, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of financial aid funds that the student originally received or was scheduled to receive. Students must attend and participate in class through the 10th week of the semester to earn the full amount of their financial aid funds. Students will be billed for any returned funds due to failure to complete the semester. If you add or drop courses after funds have been disbursed, your financial aid must be recalculated. If the recalculation reduces your eligible amount, you will be responsible for repayment of any over-payment. Students should contact financialaidoffice@occc.edu before withdrawing from all courses in one term.
Refunds - OCCC Bursar Office issues refunds from excess loan, grant, and scholarship funds through a partnership with BankMobile Disbursements, based on your refund preference. If you are entitled to a refund, BankMobile will notify you when it has processed. Typically, refunds are available after 3:00 p.m. on the disbursement date. BankMobile advises students to expect three business days for funds to transfer to other bank accounts. If you have not selected a refund preference, login to MyOCCC Portal and click menu in upper left corner; Select MyMoney; Select Refund Preference. For more information visit: Bankmobiledisbursements. Contact bursar@occc.edu for assistance.
Pell Grant Disbursements - Pell funds disburse based on enrolled credit-hours and course start dates. Students enrolled in a combination of early 8-week and late 8-week courses may receive two Pell disbursements. Disbursement one for the early 8-week and/or 16-week. Disbursement two for late 8-week courses. Pell funds for late 8-week courses will disburse after the class start date. Pell awards are assessed based on a student’s enrollment at the close of the semester add/drop period. Students awarded prior to this date will be on the first scheduled Pell disbursement. After this date, expect a 3-week processing time after being awarded to be on the next scheduled Pell disbursement.
Loans Disbursements -Students who have completed Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN), are enrolled in at least 6-credit hours, and have accepted their loan 3-weeks prior to scheduled disbursement can expect to be on the first scheduled loan disbursement. Expect a 3-week processing time after loan acceptance to be on the next scheduled loan disbursement. First-Time Student-Borrowers, in the first year of their degree program, initial loan disbursements are scheduled at least 30 days after the beginning of the term.
Pell Bookstore Charges - Bookstore charges begin one week prior to the semester begin date and continue through the first week of the semester. Eligible students enrolled and awarded for the semester with Federal Pell Grant funds that exceed the total costs of tuition, fees and eBooks, may go directly to OCCC Bookstore with their OCCC Student ID to charge required books and supplies. Online ordering is available by following the link in your email notice.
Student Loan Bookstore Charges - Eligible students with a student loan that is not yet processed for disbursement, and the student will be entitled to a refund of excess loan funds, may request a loan bookstore voucher to charge against their loan by vising the financial aid office or by emailing financialaidoffice@occc.edu
