Travel and Arrival Information
Have you received your visa and arranged a flight ticket to Oklahoma City?
Then, it is time to prepare for arrival!
Once you receive your F-1 visa, you will be allowed to enter the United States no earlier than 30 days before to the program start date on your I-20.
Example:
If your program start date on your I-20 is 08/15/2018, that means you are not allowed to arrive before 7/16/2018.
Upon entry, you will need to have the following documents in your carry-on baggage, do not put in checked baggage:
- Valid passport
- I-20
- F-1 visa
When a CBP officer asks you to state the reason why you wish to enter the United States, you should:
- Tell them that you will be studying as an F-1 student at Oklahoma City Community College
- Be prepared to provide OCCC’s information and you can show them this folder with your I-20 inside. OCCC’s information is:
Oklahoma City Community College
7777 South May Avenue
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73159
Please be aware of “Secondary Inspection,” which will apply to you if the inspector cannot automatically verify your information or if you do not have all of the required documentation. This inspection allows inspectors to conduct additional research in order to verify your information.
It is recommended that you have the name and phone numbers of the DSO’s at OCCC in case your admission needs to be verified:

Director of International Student Services
sryan@occc.edu
(405) 682-7538
Brenda Aflleje
Coordinator of International Student Services

Once in the United States, it is your responsibility to maintain your status as an F-1 student. Failure to do so will result in termination of your I-20.
First of all, please make sure that you:
- Upon arrival, check in with the International Student Services Office at Recruitment in the main building at OCCC.
- Please bring your Passport/Visa signed I-20 and copy of your I-94.

WHAT’S NEXT?
When you arrive to campus go directly to International Student Services at the Recruitment office in the main building at OCCC. There you will check in and will be advised/enrolled for classes. Within 10 days of checking in you will need to return to the ISS office for your new I-20 for continued attendance at OCCC.
Please note: You must have a new, CONTINUED I-20 within 30 days of school beginning.
You will also have to attend a mandatory International Orientation. This orientation will go over your requirements as an F-1 student. Failing to attend this orientation will stop you from enrolling in the next semester and will prevent OCCC from registering your SEVIS record.
