Q. What is the Student Advantage?
A. Office 365 Education Student Advantage is a collection of services that allows you to collaborate and share your schoolwork. It’s available for free to active students at OCCC. The services include Office Online (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote), 1TB of OneDrive storage, as well as the latest edition of the full Office software suite on up to 5 PCs or Macs for free.
Q. How do I get free Office 365 through the Student Advantage?
A. If you are a student, visit Office.com/GetOffice365 for more information and installation instructions.
You can login using your OCCC username and password to download your free Office 365 ProPlus here. You can download the free Office 365 software using the following steps.
Students will need to sign into Office 365 with their credentials here:
As you tab to the Password field, you will be redirected to the OCCC login screen:
Type in your email address again and password; then click on the Sign In button.
This will take you to the page, below, where you can access your Office 365 ProPlus software:
Simply select the appropriate language, and whether you want the 32-bit or 64-bit (click advanced to unlock that option) and then click install. Your Office 365 ProPlus experience will then begin.
If you are running Mac OS X, then this screen may look differently than shown above, but you will still be able to load and install.
Q. What happens when I graduate?
A. When you graduate, your Office 365 subscription through your institution ends upon graduation. You may enroll into other consumer or commercial offers available. If you have Office 365 Education at your school, you should make sure to transfer all your files from your school OneDrive to your personal OneDrive prior to graduation.
Q. What does Office 365 ProPlus include?
A. Office 365 ProPlus comes with a full version of Office and familiar Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and more. Office 365 ProPlus is a user-based service and allows each student to install on up to five PCs or Macs, and five tablets and access Office mobile applications on iPhone and Android phones. (Office Mobile applications are included with all Windows phones). More information here.
Q. Can students install Office for iPad through Student Advantage Office 365 ProPlus?
A. Yes, this would count towards the limit of installing it on 5 tablets.
Q. Does Student Advantage replace the Office 365 University product or Office Home & Student?
A. No, Office 365 University will continue to be sold to enable students at colleges and universities that do not take advantage of, or qualify for, the free Student Advantage offer and likewise for the Office 365 Home Premium offer.
Q. If I recently purchased Office and will now also be eligible for Student Advantage though my school, will I receive any credit and/or compensation?
A. No. The Office purchased is a consumer offering and students can continue to take advantage of the purchased offer.
Q. If I have already installed Office 365 University on my computer, what will happen if I attempt to install Office 365 ProPlus through Student Advantage?
A. The office client supports having both an Office 365 personal account (used when you signed up for Office 365 University) and a school account (login provided by your school), students will be able to remain signed in with both. Office install will have both your personal and institution ID associated with it after the installation.
