Occupational Therapy Assistant

Due to COVID-19 the observation hours required for the application for  June 4, 2021  will not be considered in the overall preference points system.  Every applicant for this application period will be given the 4 points assigned for this segment of the application.

Secondary to our current health emergency with COVID-19 most facilities are NOT allowing students to shadow, thus observation hours for Traditional 2021 OTA application will be waived

National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Exam results: Upon graduation from the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program, graduates are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Data for this report was prepared to the ACOTE standard A5.6. 

The following results demonstrate the aggregate data for 2017, 2018 and 2019, new graduate test takers (graduated within 12 months of taking the exam) for the 3 most recent calendar years (January-December of 2017, 2018, and 2019):

  • Number of graduates taking test within first year - 59
  • Total number passing - 57
  • Percentage of success – 97%

The total number of graduates from the OCCC Occupational Therapy Assistant Program during the 3-year period of 2017-2019 was 76 with an average graduation rate of 93%.

Please note: All OTA program faculty (full-time and adjunct) maintain current OT licensure with the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. Current copies of each faculty license is kept on file in the division office.
