Division of Health Professions Nursing

Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) offers a 70-71 credit hour nursing program. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Students successfully completing the program will earn an Associate in Applied Science degree. OCCC offers three nursing track options:
- Traditional Pathway
- Baccalaureate to ADN Accelerated Nurse Pathway for individuals who have a Bachelor’s degree
- Career Ladder Pathway for LPNs and ParamedicsÂ

Are you an LPN, paramedic, or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (CerTT)? Advance your career with Oklahoma City Community College’s (OCCC) accelerated Career Ladder Pathway nursing program—designed to help you earn your Registered Nurse (RN) degree in just one year.
Program Format: Hybrid Learning
Our CLP program combines the flexibility of online learning with essential hands-on experience:
- Online Theory Courses: Complete nursing theory coursework on your schedule through online classes
- In-Person Lab Sessions: Attend on-campus labs one day per week to practice essential clinical skills and collaborate with classmates
- In-Person Clinical Rotations: Beginning in Nursing Process 3, attend clinical rotations at local hospitals one additional day per week for the remainder of the program
Program Schedule
- Start: Spring semester
- Duration: Spring semester, 8-week summer session, and fall semester
- Time Commitment: Two days per week on campus (one lab day + one clinical day) plus online coursework
- Graduation: Fall semester
Note: Specific days for labs and clinicals vary based on hospital availability and will be confirmed prior to each semester.
Students must pass OCCC NUR1413 Role Transitions to progress into the nursing program. After successfully completing NUR1413 (with a grade of C or greater), students are eligible to apply for 15 hours of credit for prior learning. See the nursing student handbook for more information and pricing.
