Migrating Email From Your Old Account
You may wish to migrate emails from your old student account to your new account. These instructions will help you with this process.
Forwarding an Individual Email
Justin Example has decided that he needs to forward an email from his old account (justin.k.example@email.occc.edu) to his new one (justin.k.example@my.occc.edu).
He will open a browser window and go to email.occc.edu/iclient, where he will enter his username and password, then click on the Login button.
Justin has decided that he wants to forward a happy birthday email that he received, so he double clicks on it in the InBox list to display it in a new window.
Next, he will click on the Forward button located near the top of the window. A New Message window will now display. Justin will enter his new email address - justin.k.example@my.occc.edu - and click on the Send button.
When Justin checks his new email account, he will see that the forwarded message has been delivered.
Forwarding All Future Emails
Justin thinks that it would be a really good idea to make sure that any emails in the future sent to justin.k.example@email.occc.edu are automatically forwarded to justin.k.example@my.occc.edu. Accessing his old email account again, Justin will click on the word Preferences in the left column which displays User Preferences. In the Forward to: field, he enters his new email address, then clicks on the Save button located near the top of the screen.
Be VERY careful to make sure you enter the correct new email address. When emails are forwarded in this manner, there is no record of the email being forwarded in your old email account.
