These first people in Oklahoma were wandering families of Big Game Hunters! One of the flint spear points was found in the skeletal remains of a Columbian mammoth near Stecker, Oklahoma. Radioactive carbon testing has dated this kill between 10,000 and 11,000 years ago.

The difference in climate was caused by a huge ice mass that extended from the North Pole south to the northern part of the United States. Most of Canada was covered with ice.
