Community Outreach & Education High School Equivalency (HSE) Classes
High School Equivalency (HSE) Classes
Courses
OCCC's Community Outreach and Education department offers free High School Equivalency (GED® or HiSET
®) courses to the community in eight week sessions throughout the year. Certified instructors work with students to meet their educational needs, building from foundational skills and preparing students with everything they'll need to pass the GED® or HiSET
® exams.
Classes are located in South Oklahoma City at the OCCC FACE Center and may also be done online.
To make our classes as accessible to as many as possible, we offer them on a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule, both of which are available in the morning (9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) or evening (6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.). Online classes are also available.
Students take an assessment test when enrolling to help us target their greatest areas of need. This allows us to place students in an appropriate class working only on the skills they need. Level 1 classes build foundational skills while Level 2 classes focus on test prep. |
Enrollment
Students can enroll by attending an orientation session. These orientations will introduce students to our program and the resources available to help them achieve their educational and career goals. We will also place students in a class based on the assessment.
Orientation is a two day process. The first day of orientation will take the entire 3-hour period. Students will make an appointment for the second day before leaving the orientation on the first day.
