English as a Second Language (ESL)
Oklahoma City Community College's Adult Learning Center offers morning and evening English classes to students 18 or older in person or online. In class, you will learn about American culture as well as improve your English speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills.
OCCC’s Adult Learning Center is the largest adult education program based in Oklahoma City and grant-funded by the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.
ESL Enrollment Procedures
ESL enrollment is by orientation appointment only. Click here to fill out the forms and choose your orientation appointment.
Orientations in:
July/August — Classes start Aug. 19, 2024
December/January — Classes start Jan. 21, 2025
ESL classes are free with a $20 cash registration fee per school year. Only cash is accepted.
At orientation, students will complete the required Placement Test. This test helps place you in the correct level of class and will take three to four hours.
**Important** ALL students who take the Placement Test and register for classes are required to attend 40 hours of class instruction and complete a Progress Test. The funding of our program is determined by the number of students who take a Progress Test.

Online Class Information
Online classes may be requested at ESL orientation. Not all classes are available online. Some classes such as, TOEFL Preparation, are only available online.
Anyone requesting online classes must have their own technology, including computer or tablet, as well as reliable access to the internet.
Computers and internet access are NOT provided to online students.
If an online student needs assistance, they can contact their teacher for assistance.
Minimum Age Requirement
The minimum age to attend classes with OCCC ESL Program is 18 years old.
Attendance
A student’s commitment to class attendance and personal practice directly impacts the rate of success learning English as a Second Language.
Students who do not attend classes regularly will be removed from the class after 90 days so other students can have a chance to attend. If you are removed from the class you will need to contact the ESL Enrollment Specialist to reenroll for classes and will be charged the $20 cash registration fee.
