Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) is excited to present the final performance in the 2017-2018 Performing Arts Series from the musical performance group ABBA MANIA. The show takes place Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater.
Following the sale of over 100 million records during the band’s career, ABBA disbanded in 1982 to the dismay of fans and concert-goers. Created in 1999 and performing its first show in 2000, ABBA MANIA is the London-based favorite tribute group for ABBA fans worldwide, recreating the sounds and staging of one of the most popular and celebrated pop music groups of all time. The UK group has performed sold out concerts around the globe. The USA cast joins in that success, touring cities nationwide and capturing America’s nostalgic love of disco and glam rock with their effervescent live performance of ABBA’s timeless chart-topping hits.
The concert celebrates the music and style of ABBA performing over 20 of the group’s top hits like “Dancing Queen,†“Mamma Mia,†“The Winner Takes It All,†“Voulez Vous,†and more. The cast includes Kirbi Jo Long as Anni-Frid, Shelby Ringdahl as Agnetha, Dean Balkwill as Bjorn, and Jeff Pike as Benny, with band members Chris Blackwell on guitar, Wayne Viar on drums, and Dexter Whitaker on bass.
