What is "the cloud", and why should I use it?
The "cloud", or "cloud computing", basically refers to programs or apps that run on internet servers instead of on your device, or storage space accessible through the web. Your device can access these programs or services through an internet connection without needing to install the program or take up space on your hard drive.
This means some awesome things for you! Files you save to your OneDrive account (cloud storage) can be accessed anywhere on any device with an Internet connection. Even if you forget to bring your flashdrive, you can still access files saved to your OneDrive!
How can I get started ?
- You can access OneDrive from your student email account. After logging in, look for the Apps icon in the upper right.
- Selecting this icon will expand the list of Office365 apps available to you. Select OneDrive from the list.
- And you're in! You can upload or drag files from your computer into OneDrive, or select files in this area to open or download onto your device.
