Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) Police Detective Sergeant Brandon Davis is representing OCCC Campus Police and gaining valuable skills and experience through a selective training opportunity with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).
From March 24-May 9, Davis is attending the prestigious OSBI Agents Academy, which plays a crucial role in equipping new agents and state and local law enforcement with advanced skills and knowledge necessary to uphold the safety and security of Oklahomans.
“Being selected for this course highlights Detective Sergeant Davis’ dedication to professional development and his commitment to enhancing public safety with advanced law enforcement training,” said OCCC Police Chief Daniel Piazza. “Through robust training and interagency cooperation, the OSBI Agents Academy continues to advance the capabilities of law enforcement in Oklahoma, ensuring a safer and more secure state for all residents.”
The rigorous seven-week training program emphasizes a multifaceted approach, combining investigative techniques, legal instruction, and tactical skills. It includes weekly — sometimes multiple — exams, extensive notetaking, report writing, and a comprehensive curriculum covering every aspect of police work and investigations.
The academy is highly selective and offered only occasionally, making acceptance especially competitive among law enforcement agencies across the state of Oklahoma.
“It was truly an honor to be selected for this academy because the selection process is extremely competitive,” Davis said. “I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the quality of training, the professionalism of the instructors, and the overall experience.”
The academy’s curriculum is designed for officers and sensitive to the complexities of modern law enforcement. Beyond foundational training, the OSBI Agents Academy fosters vital relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Through joint exercises, cross-training, and collaborative investigations, OSBI agents develop a seamless working relationship with law enforcement partners. This cooperation strengthens public safety efforts statewide, allowing for efficient resource sharing, coordinated responses, and unified investigations.
“This is a valuable opportunity for additional training that I can bring back to our department and apply to future investigations,” said Detective Sergeant Davis. “Not only am I learning advanced investigative skills, but I’m also building meaningful connections with OSBI personnel and other law enforcement professionals across the state — resources that will be invaluable in the field.”
