OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) will host a career fair on Thursday, April 24, giving businesses an opportunity to promote their job openings to OCCC students.
“OCCC students are ready and well-prepared to fill the employment gaps our industry partners face,” said Dr. Mautra Staley Jones, president of OCCC. “Workforce development and career readiness are critical components of the educational experience at OCCC.”
More than 1,900 students are expected to graduate from OCCC this May with associate degrees and certificates, in areas such as nursing, computer science, cybersecurity, business, psychology and more.
Most courses at OCCC offer students the flexibility to be a part of the workforce while completing their studies toward a degree, certificate or micro-credential.
Moreover, many academic programs at OCCC, such as digital cinema production, automotive technology, and those in the Division of Health Professions, encourage an “earn while you learn” pathway for students.
Career Fair sponsorships and display tables are still available for businesses to purchase. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the OCCC campus in the Main Building gymnasium.
“OCCC wants to partner with area businesses to help them fill their workforce needs,” said Amy Brooks Young, executive director of Career Success and Workforce Development at OCCC. “Oklahoma City Community College career fairs are opportunities for employers to meet with OCCC students looking to get hired.”
