Prairie Surf Studios’ partnership with OCCC is up and running, with Grip & Electric intensives beginning in January 2022, and a thriving Digital Cinema Production program set to get additional attention and engagement as a result of the burgeoning film industry in Oklahoma. KOCO, Oklahoma City’s ABC affiliate, covered the partnership, the benefits of working in the film industry in Oklahoma, and the significant workforce development need to meet the rapid upscaling of the industry in this market.
On the cost/benefit of taking the new Grip & Electric intensive at OCCC, which costs $2,500 and involves a rigorous Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. schedule over five weeks, the class’s instructor, Steve Mathis, said:
“Let me tell you, this is a great business to be in and a class like this doesn’t come along very often. So, if this is something you want to do, find a way to scrape up the money and take the time off because it will pay off for you in the next 40 years.”
