Board Chair Devery Youngblood recognized Interim President Jeremy Thomas and Executive Vice President Danita Rose for their leadership at the Board of Regents meeting on Monday, November 15.
Board Chair Youngblood presented Interim President Thomas with the Chairman’s Leadership Award for Transparency.
“He has a temperament made for difficult moments: calm, unflappable, positive, realistic and always focused on the best interests of the students we serve,” said Youngblood. “Jeremy has been the embodiment of transparency during his time as Interim President. The listening sessions done in the beginning of this executive leadership team’s tenure alone are a testament to a new culture, one that respects all stakeholders.”
Board Chair Youngblood then presented Danita Rose with the Chairman’s Leadership Award for Integrity and Courage.
“No problems would have been documented and exposed. No common sense solutions would have been put forth and no new culture would have arisen out of principled leadership to the highest levels if not for Danita Rose. In every way, Danita was a champion for doing what is right for our students, our faculty, our staff and the taxpayers who support them,” said Youngblood.
These awards come after working together for a year to transform the leadership and culture at OCCC. Â “I know these awards are merely a proxy of gratitude I hope we will all feel for their many efforts. OCCC is a better place because of their service,” said Youngblood.
