Express Employment International has partnered with Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) and the Foundation for Oklahoma City Community College (FFOCCC) to create new opportunities for student aid. The partnership has resulted in a $15,000 grant funded by Express that will provide 30 different students with a $500 scholarship for the 2021-2022 school year.
“I have full confidence that our students will make remarkable assets to the workforce,” said OCCC Interim President Dr. Jeremy Thomas. “I speak for everyone at OCCC when I express my utmost gratitude to Express Employment International, for their generous support of our students and their belief in the talented individuals we usher out into the workplace.”
Eligible applicants to the Express Employment International Workforce Readiness Scholarship must be current OCCC students who are seeking degrees in any of the Associate of Applied Science programs, and who intend to enter the workforce directly after graduation. This year, criteria for the scholarships will include financial hardship as a result of COVID-19.
“Our students who plan to enter the workforce directly after graduation will make a positive difference in our community,” said Foundation Executive Director Von Allen. “We are grateful that the scholarships from Express will help our students to continue their education, especially during the hardships caused by COVID-19.”
With more than 60 majors to choose from, and more than 40 student-led clubs and organizations, OCCC offers an affordable, accredited college education to around 17,000 students annually, and serves thousands more in non-credit classes and programs. OCCC offers associate degrees, certifications and leadership opportunities to all Oklahomans, whoever they are, whomever they love, wherever they’ve been and wherever they’re going.
