Oklahoma City Community College’s (OCCC) Cultural Programs Office introduces the next installment of “Close Encounters of the Cultural Kind,†a cultural experience in the intimate setting of the college’s Bruce Owen Theater. Up next, The Cashore Marionettes bring art to life in “Life in Motion†Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
A performance by The Cashore Marionettes is a celebration of life. The program consists of a collection of engaging pieces encompassing a broad range of themes, each delivered with a simplicity that expresses the essence of the moment. Through a combination of brilliant manipulation, humor, pathos, classic music and poetic insight, The Cashore Marionettes take the audience on a journey that celebrates the richness of life. “Life in Motion†is a powerful, entertaining, surprising, theatrically satisfying, one-of-a-kind evening for adults and young adults.
Unmatched in artistry, grace and refinement of movement, the Cashore Marionettes’ moving and humorous performances have astounded audiences in Europe, the Far East and across North America including stops at the Kennedy Center, Annenberg Center, Kravis Center and many others. In the performance “Life in Motion,†Joseph Cashore’s collection of marionette masterworks portray characters of depth, integrity and humanity.
Joseph Cashore has been designing and performing his remarkable marionettes for over 30 years. His first encounter with a marionette as a young boy in New Jersey sparked a lifelong desire to bring life to art and entertainment to audiences worldwide. He has received numerous awards for his artistry including a Pew Fellowship for Performance Art, based upon his artistic accomplishment; a Henson Foundation Grant, an award intended to help promote puppetry to adult audiences; and a Citation of Excellence from the UNIMA-USA, the highest honor an American puppeteer can receive.
Tickets are $15 each and available at tickets.occc.edu and the OCCC Cultural Programs box office at 405-682-7579. Tickets are free to OCCC students, faculty and staff. This show is suggested for audiences age 16 and over.
