Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) and Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre (CityRep) have again partnered with National Theatre Live (NTL) to present theatre productions to audiences in the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater. NTL is the National Theatre’s groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre live from the London stage to cinemas across the United Kingdom and around the world. Next in the lineup is “War Horse” Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at 6 p.m.
Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, “War Horse” is the powerful story of a young boy named Albert and his beloved horse, Joey, who has been requisitioned to fight for the British in World War I. Caught in enemy crossfire, Joey ends up serving on both sides during the war before landing in No Man’s Land, while Albert, not old enough to enlist, embarks on a treacherous mission to find his horse and bring him home. A remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship, “War Horse” features ground-breaking puppetry work by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing and galloping horses to life on stage.
All NTL events at OCCC are encore presentations pre-recorded in high-definition. The remainder of the 2016-2017 NTL lineup includes:
• “War Horse,” Dec. 4, 2016
• “Les Liaisons Dangereuses,” Jan. 15, 2017
