Logistics systems in the supply chain have become more integrated as consumer demand grows. Oklahoma City Community College’s (OCCC) Professional Development Institute (PDI) offers a logistics-focused training through the Supply Chain Operator course starting in October.
The course is aimed at workers who are receiving, storing, packaging, loading, unloading, documenting, shipping, transporting or otherwise handling product within the supply chain. It is designed to give the worker a better understanding of supply chain logistics so the worker is able to perform with confidence in the workplace.
In addition to the knowledge gained from the course, class participants will also have the opportunity to become a Certified Logistics Associate (CLA), which is a nationally-recognized certification, under the standards of the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC). Studies have shown that operators with this certification have a tendency to remain with their employer longer, improving turnover rates, reducing workplace errors and contributing to the overall quality of the operation.
This course also leads into an advanced course option, the Supply Chain Technician course, which will be offered in mid-October.
Course dates currently open for enrollment include Oct. 3 – 5 and Nov. 7 – 9, each from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The course cost is $795.
For questions about the course or to enroll, contact Patrick Clanin by phone at (405) 682-7854 or via email at patrick.a.clanin@occc.edu. Students can also register online by visiting /pdi. The courses will be held at the Professional Development Institute, located at 7124 S. I-35 Service Road, Oklahoma City, OK.
