Oklahoma City Community College’s (OCCC) Professional Development Institute (PDI), a center of excellence for continuing education and workforce development, will offer a pharmacy technician course with an emphasis in basic prescription and dispensing starting Monday, Sept. 12, 2016.
The nine-week, $480 course will include skills needed to work in retail pharmacies and hospitals instructed by Howard Turner, certified pharmacy technician since 1994. “I not only prepare my students to work in pharmacies and hospitals. I also prepare them for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam,” Turner said.
The course will also include state regulations, insurance restrictions, mathematics, applicable law, nomenclature, basic IV admixture and computerized pharmacy systems. Students will receive two text books approved by the American Pharmacists Association and a certificate of completion contingent upon a 75 percent or better grade in the course.
“Professionals need to know we offer competitive pricing for our pharmacy technician program and an education that will provide employment opportunities,” says PDI Director John Claybon.
The course will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday at the PDI building, 7124 S. I-35 Service Road. For more information, please contact Kirstin Krug at (405) 682-7856 or kirstin.m.krug@occc.edu, or visit /pdi.
