Ring in the new year this spring with a new knowledge of basic sign language at OCCC’s Professional Development Institute. Whether sign language is something you’ve always wanted to learn, or a tool you would like to use to better serve your clients and friends, this course is a great catapult into learning the language.
Instructor Edith Daggs, an interpreter for the deaf since graduating with her certification from OSU-OKC in 1998, will cover basic American Sign Language (ASL) signs and conversational signs. Students will learn about culture and etiquette of the deaf community through interactive games and activities. The class is designed to be a fun and enjoyable atmosphere where no books or tools are needed.
The six-session course begins Feb. 2 and takes place each Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. through Mar. 8, 2016 costing $60. The course will be held at the Professional Development Institute, 7124 I-35 Service Road, Oklahoma City, OK. For more information call 405.682.1611 x 7205.
