The course will prepare students to enter the workforce as an entry level Grip or Electrician in the Film Industry. Instruction will cover basic and advanced Grip and Electric terminology and skills, in a hands-on simulated film set environment. This will include knot tying, rigging, lighting control, lamp operation, DMX control as well as all standard grip and electric equipment. They will be certified in both Scissor Lift and Condor operations.

About the Instructor – Jon Shryock
Jon Shryock has worked in the film and video business in Oklahoma since 1997, working as a Key Grip, Key Rigging Grip, Best Boy Grip, Dolly Grip, Camera Crane Operator, Grip, Lighting Director, Gaffer, Rigging Gaffer, Rigging Electric Foreman, Best Boy Electric, and Electric.
Jon has a degree in General Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering. His preferred position on a movie production is as the Key Rigging Grip where he gets to utilize his engineering background in designing rigs for lighting and cameras.
Jon has worked on over 50 movie and television productions around the country and thousands of commercials. He has been a member of IATSE Local 484 since 2015.
