The Music Program

If your interest is music, Oklahoma City Community College is the place for you. Our two-year Associate Degree program in music develops skills in important areas such as theory, performance, and individual and group applied music. After completing your Associate Degree, you'll be able to transfer to a four- year college or university and continue your education as a junior.

At Oklahoma City Community College you'll find modern facilities which include a Kurzweil Electronic Piano Laboratory with individual MIDI stations, individual practice rooms, and a 250-seat theatre for recitals and ensemble performances. Most importantly, you'll be taught by faculty who are truly dedicated to helping you achieve your scholastic goals.

Performance Opportunities

As a music student at Oklahoma City Community College, you'll have a variety of opportunities to gain experience through performing. Groups participate in activities both on and off campus throughout the year. Currently, College sponsored performing groups include:

Chamber Singers is a select ensemble of singers and instrumentalists who perform contemporary musical repertoire. Membership is by audition and scholarships are awarded to those selected. High school seniors who plan to attend Oklahoma City Community College and are interested in trying out for Chamber Singers should contact the music department at the end of the spring term to arrange an audition.

This is a community-based choral group intended to serve the needs of a wide variety of persons, from the experienced singer to the interested, music-loving amateur. No audition is required for membership; however, the ability to match pitches is expected. One or two public performances will be given during each semester. You will experience a wide range of repertoire and learn good vocal techniques as you enjoy singing.

Oklahoma City Community College's Jazz Ensemble is a select group of instrumentalists who rehearse and perform standard jazz repertoire. The group performs regularly on campus and in the community. Participation in competitions such as the Wichita Jazz Festival are also a part of the ensemble's activities. Membership is by audition.

Comprised of students, faculty and staff, the Guitar Ensemble performs interpretations of classical music arranged for guitar. Performances are scheduled throughout the year at a variety of events. Membership is by audition.

Email Professor Dave Archer at or call him at 682-1611, extension 7245 for details about arranging an audition for any of the above listed groups or for information about the music degree program.
