Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Medical Assistant Program at Oklahoma City Community College, students will be able to:

  • Provide Competent Clinical and Administrative Care - Demonstrate proficiency in performing clinical and administrative duties essential to the role of the medical assistant in a variety of healthcare settings.
  • Apply Patient Safety and Infection Control Practices - Utilize appropriate safety measures, infection prevention techniques, and standard precautions to protect patients, staff, and the healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrate Effective Communication and Interpersonal Skills - Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and healthcare team members while demonstrating cultural awareness and respect.
  • Integrate Critical Thinking and Clinical Judgment - Apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills to support patient care, workflow efficiency, and accurate documentation in the healthcare setting.
  • Exhibit Professionalism and Ethical Practice - Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards, including confidentiality, accountability, and lifelong learning expected of entry-level medical assistants.
