“Japanese Tea Philosophy”

Jonathan Khalilian, UCO Professor and owner of Brushwood Tea, will discuss chado, or the way of tea, and how Japanese tea philosophy can be applied to one's studies and everyday life.
“The Purpose and Power of Poetry”

-Professor Aaron Gomez will talk about poetry as a historical form of expression, and what we can do with it today.

Professor Jeff Provine will host a show-and-tell opportunity for students to discuss their favorite manga. Be prepared to give a brief synopsis and explain the impact of what makes it so appealing to you.

Professors Greg Daubenspeck and Jeff Provine will host a series of international horrifying science fiction shorts each with discussion on what's so scary when we ask 'what if?
“Viral Shorts”-YouTube & TikTok Video Workshop

Professor Dr. David Zeoli and Chair Professor Jennifer Fike will bring digital equipment and host this hands-on, interactive workshop. Students will learn how to make a high-quality TikTok post. All students are invited.

Manga Night 2
5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21
Professor Jeff Provine will give a talk adapted from the History of Comics course showing the many genres of manga and how the medium became so diverse. We'll discuss Kodomo-muke, Shojo, and Shonen for younger readers; gritty Seinen; romantic Josei; and subgenres like "magical girl," "mecha." Be sure to check our manga library in the lab. Snacks will be provided.

Come walk together with us on campus and show off your native clothing. You can wear clothes of your native or favorite cultures. You can hold up a sign. Help us to promote cultural awareness on campus in a casual way.
