How to Help

Oklahoma City Community College, with assistance from OKC Thunder personnel, will collect donations for the people devastated by the tornado that ripped through central Oklahoma.  Although the OCCC campus was not damaged, many OCCC students, faculty and staff have been directly impacted by this terrible tragedy, and others have family and friends that have been victims of the tornado.

How can I help?

The college will begin collecting donations on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. You can drop-off your donations starting at noon until 5:00 p.m. at Main Building welcome desk. Tomorrow, Thursday, we will move to the former Child Development Center (the building just northeast of the John Massey Center on the main campus). The Thunder personnel will help collect donations, but we will also need college volunteers to help with the collection and help direct traffic. Staff volunteers will be asked to work 2-3 hour shifts throughout the day. Ideally, we will need four staff volunteers per shift. We encourage volunteers to wear an OCCC shirt and name badge.

Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact Randy Cassimus via e-mail at He is coordinating the volunteer effort.

What is needed?

Currently, the items most needed are: toiletries, diapers, sports shoes, tennis shoes (closed toe) in all sizes, new socks, new underwear, household items including dishes, cookware, silverware, small appliances, bedding, linens, towels and box fans. We do not need any other clothing items other than those listed at this time.We do not need water, food or other search and relief items.

Can I give money?

OCCC will not be collecting money at this time.

How else can I help?
