Todd Mosby New Horizons Ensemble
Thursday, January 31, 2019 – 7:30 PM
A perfect blend of original acoustic instrumental with timeless classics by Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and James Taylor fill out the musical terrain.
The Ensemble...
A perfect blend of sight, sound, precision and wit. These are the hallmarks of NHE, gaining traction as one of the most entertaining and unique Contemporary Acoustic Instrumental groups in the United States. The ensemble has forged a refined sound which few groups achieve. The wide range of sound colors, the sheer joy in performing that musicians convey on stage and an absolutely transformational evening of music are praised by listeners and the press time and time again.
Individually, these six musicians have won a string of awards and nominations including Grammy nominations and wins, ZMR nominations and wins, Player of The Year awards and acclaim from Publishers Weekly, Amazon & Audio File Magazine. The reach of their activities is constantly expanding, taking them throughout the U.S. and world.
Mosby is tireless in his quest to create new compositions and arrangements for the ensemble. Shaped by classic American musical traditions, the musicians are naturally at home in the vocal and instrumental music of American Jazz, Folk, New Age and Pop. They revel in performing these styles as well as the performance of new repertoire in the unique area of contemporary acoustic instrumental music.
Part of their work is devoted to encouraging the up-and-coming generation, so teaching and workshops are part of their regular schedule, both at home and in their travels. It’s no wonder that New Horizons Ensemble, with its unique line-up of, vocals, woodwinds, acoustic guitars, piano, bass and percussion is gaining more and more fans with each performance.
"...A memorable and rare event with many wow-moments..." -
— Michael Diamond - Music Media & Focus 2016
“That's the problem with labels… a colleague once said... ‘there's only two kinds of music, good music and other…’ I took a look and listen… yours is good music…”
— Tom Barkes, Director of Finance and Operations, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, Notre Dame, IN
