Dear OCCC Graduation Candidates:
Congratulations on your hard work and pending graduation from our college! There are so many reasons to celebrate this accomplishment, and we want to give you that opportunity by hosting division-specific Commencement ceremonies, held on our campus, at the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC).
We all want to celebrate this occasion, but also know how important it is to do it safely. While Commencement is typically an open event for all family, friends, and guests to attend and celebrate with you, this year, to ensure everyone’s safety, the ceremonies are only open to you, the graduate. But there’s good news: We’re live-streaming every ceremony, so your friends and family from all over the world can cheer you on from wherever they are. And if you can’t or don’t want to attend in person, you’re welcome to watch online, too.
Because of capacity limitations due to COVID-19, you must RSVP yes in order to attend an in-person ceremony. You will not be on the list to purchase your cap and gown from the OCCC bookstore without a confirmed yes RSVP, and you will not be permitted into the commencement ceremony if you did not previously RSVP yes to that specific ceremony. Once all RSVPs have been collected, we’ll let you know which ceremony you’ll be able to attend, and where and how to pick up your cap and gown.
Remember: Availability is limited, so register as soon as you can before the Thursday, April 1st deadline.
We know this is a little different this year, but we’re excited to celebrate you however we can, and we hope the combination of in-person and online events will make it even more accessible to friends and family who want to join in safely.
There will also be an opportunity to submit a photo to have your name included in a virtual piece of the ceremony. This link will be sent out at a later time, the RSVP link is currently only for the in person ceremony.
If you have questions, comments or concerns, please reach out to Records & Graduation at 405.682.7512 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Congratulations to all of you. Now, let’s celebrate!

How do I RSVP? All former graduates (Summer and Fall 2020) who originally listed they wanted to participate in the ceremony were mailed a post card with the RSVP links on Friday, March 12th. All anticipated graduates (Spring and Summer 2021) were emailed the RSVP link on Wednesday, March 10th.
What if I did not receive a postcard or email and want to participate? You may have not indicated on your original application that you planned to participate in the ceremony. If you do want to participate, please call 405-682-7512 or email email@example.com so we can send the RSVP link to you, provided it’s prior to April 1st.
What if I want to buy a cap/gown for myself, but don’t plan to participate in the ceremony? Your name will only be provided to the bookstore for approval if you RSVP to the ceremony, however, if you want a cap/gown but don’t want to attend, just come by the Graduation office and get a permission slip before going to the bookstore.
What if I graduated last year and want to participate in the ‘in person’ ceremony this year? Provided there is enough space, you will be able to RSVP to one of the ceremonies this year. You’ll need to call 405-682-7512 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to get the link, provides its prior to April 1st.
When can I buy my cap and gown? Starting Friday, April 2nd, provided you have submitted your RSVP for one of the ceremonies, you will be able to purchase your cap and gown through the OCCC bookstore. They will be on sale up until the final day of the ceremonies, Friday, May 14th.
Will I be able to bring guests? Unfortunately, due to social distancing guidelines, only graduates will be allowed to attend the event, but we will be live streaming the ceremony on the main OCCC website during the event.
