Callie S. Craig completed her B.A. in English at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. Post-graduation, she moved to Norman, Oklahoma to pursue graduate studies in English Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Although from Wyoming originally, Professor Craig grew up in Arkansas. Professor Craig has known she wanted to be an educator since she was a child–despite being home schooled all through high school!
In her own life, Professor Craig both finds and makes meaning through reading and writing; she hopes to foster meaningful and mindful classroom spaces for students, so that they may discover and utilize the true power of reading and writing in their own unique ways.
Prior to joining OCCC, Professor Craig also worked as an academic advisor for various majors (including English, Human Relations, Classics, Letters, and Women’s and Gender Studies). Teaching and advising have instilled in her a deep, driving sense of student advocacy. Now that Professor Craig’s a faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College, she aims to become a supportive presence on campus–whether it be in the classroom, during office hours, or elsewhere–, a presence where students know they have an ally, should they need one.
