Oklahoma City Community College’s (OCCC) Professional Development Institute (PDI) continues to expand class offerings with a new Commercial Driver License (CDL) preparation course starting April 4, 2017, at 6 p.m. It is a requirement to have a CDL to drive a commercial vehicle. OCCC’s PDI can help get you started on the right road.
This course is designed for anyone who wishes to operate:
- A single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more
- A combination vehicle with a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds
- A vehicle designed to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver)
- Any size vehicle which requires hazardous material placards or is carrying hazardous material listed as a select agent or toxin
In order to obtain a CDL, an individual must pass both knowledge and skills test; this CDL course will prepare them to pass the knowledge portion of the permit test. The course will take place every Tuesday and Thursday, from April 4 – 18, 2017, in five three-hour sessions and costs $295.
