Due to inclement weather, OCCC is closed today, Saturday, February 28. All classes are canceled. This includes the main campus, FACE Center, Capitol Hill Center and Professional Development Institute (PDI). Events in the Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater, the Bruce Owen Theater and the Aquatic Center will still go on as scheduled, but all other activities have been canceled.

Please practice caution when coming to and leaving campus as secondary roads, driveways, parking lots, and sidewalks may be icy and slippery. 

Campus closings and delayed openings will be announced through local radio and television stations and posted on the college’ s website, Facebook and Twitter pages. They will also be announced through the college’s Campus Alert Notification (CAN) System.

Water Safety Classes


Lifeguard Training (StarGuard)

StarGuard will certify you to be a lifeguard in Oklahoma and most other states. The integrated curriculum includes emergency care skills necessary to protect life or prevent further injury until EMS arrives. The performance objectives of the American Safety & Health Institute CPR-Pro, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens and AED are built into the course. Prerequisites: 15 years old and pass a swimming skills test.

Lifeguard Training (American Red Cross)

This course certifies you to be a pool lifeguard in Oklahoma and most other states. Participants will learn the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course includes First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. 30 Hrs. Prerequisites: 15 years old; able to pass skills test.

Lifeguard Instructor Class (American Red Cross)

This course certifies you to teach American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, AED, Supplemental Oxygen, Preventing Disease Transmission, Community Water Safety, First Aid and CPR. Prerequisites: 17 years old and possess current LGT Certificate. Must successfully complete online session prior o start date. Must also successfully complete precourse skills session and written test.

Water Safety Instructor (American Red Cross)

This course will certify participants to teach ARC swimming lessons and the Community Water Safety course. Prerequisite: 16 years old, able to swim at Level IV skills. Students will be required to pass a swimming skills test on first day of class. The FIT course is included.
