OCCC Student/Alumni Spotlights
Major: Literature
Jade Gaten found that OCCC was the perfect transition school before enrolling in a major university. A sophomore Literature major from Oklahoma City, Jade plans to teach high school and college English.

Blair Bebout, from Blanchard, Oklahoma, began his freshman semester at OCCC in the fall of 2011. He has yet to declare his major, but says he’s happy with choosing OCCC to begin his college career.

Aspen Zermeno is a freshman student from Choctaw. She hopes to major in Archeology at a four-year school after finishing her basic courses at OCCC. Zermeno was looking for simplicity, but was equally impressed by the encouragement she found at OCCC.

My favorite part about my classes at OCCC is that they are small. I love that I can ask a question whenever I am confused and the instructor is usually more than willing to clarify.

Freshman Mary Iruegas was interested in personal support from her professors and was dually impressed by the supportive environment she discovered from OCCC staff and students she shares experiences with in class.

The things I like best about OCCC are the reasonable class sizes and the instructors I’ve had who are willing to go above and beyond to assist in the learning process.

Rebecca Walker, with academic support from OCCC, has worked her way up from a GED student at OCCC to a freshman, Administrative Office Technology major.

What has really surprised me about OCCC is all of the campus labs available to students. It’s so good to know that there is extra help available.

Meet Blaine Brooks, a sophomore Business Management student from Blanchard, Oklahoma. After obtaining his degree, Blaine plans to work with his father in their family-owned, oil and gas exploration company.

Professor Hinton is passionate about journalism and has introduced aspects of the profession that has given me a whole new appreciation for it.

I choose OCCC because my mom graduated from here with a nursing degree and always told me how much she loved the campus and teaching staff.

Misty Turner is an OCCC freshman from Mustang, Oklahoma who found her start through OCCC’s Career Transitions Program. “It took me some time to get here, but I’m on the path to complete it all: my associate, bachelors and then my master’s degree.

Malori Kennon from Oklahoma City appreciates a number of things about OCCC: affordability, scholarship availability, and solid instructors.

I chose OCCC because it’s a great school to attend and to meet new people. The tuition is also affordable for students with low income who are also parents.

Patrick McPartland, soon to complete his two-year degree, appreciates OCCC’s small class sizes verses the 1000-seat lecture hall students encounter at many major universities.
