Arts Festival Oklahoma featured artist to display works Sept. 5-7 at the 31st annual festival.
Festival goers are sure to enjoy the talent displayed in Russell Cooper’s watercolors, acrylics and lithographs Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5-7, during Arts Festival Oklahoma (AFO) at Oklahoman City Community College (OCCC).
Inspired by nature, elements and textures that surround everyday visions and a love for sports, this year’s featured artist at AFO is self taught with diverse works flowing onto his many canvases. From baseball to billiards, dance to lacrosse, and fishing to football, Cooper’s art collections feature sports of all types. As well, he continues adding new sports paintings to his assortment and will be offering the original paintings and prints to his collectors at the 31st annual AFO.
An Oklahoma native, Cooper began his love for art and painting as a child and has been producing art on a professional scale for more than 16 years. Cooper is also known for bringing to life contemporary landscapes by combining amazing colors and shapes, textures and the reflection of the elements, drawing the viewer over the horizon and deep into the painting.
The sports enthusiast in Cooper also enjoys introducing the world to nostalgic scenes and contemporary sports paintings.
“I’m proud to showcase my work in art festivals across the United States, most of which are ranked among the top art festivals in the nation,” said Cooper. “I take pleasure in exhibiting my artwork in nearly 50 art festivals each year, and have many collectors throughout the United States,” he added. “The thought I like to leave with customers – whether they have a love for paintings themselves or simply enjoy the works of other artists is, ‘Art is everywhere. See it, embrace it and enjoy it,’” Cooper said.
AFO hours are Sat., Sept. 5 and Sun., Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Mon., Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy the Festival and meet Russell Cooper on the campus of Oklahoma City Community College, located at S.W. 74th and May Ave.
