Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) has partnered with Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre (CityRep) to present screenings of National Theatre Live (NTL) performances in the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater. An encore screening of “The Audience”, starring Academy Award and Tony Award winner Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, will be shown Sunday, April 3 at 6 p.m.
For sixty years, Queen Elizabeth II has met with each of her twelve Prime Ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. No one knows what they discuss, not even their spouses. Through these private audiences, we see glimpses of the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped a monarch.
“The Audience” is written by Peter Morgan and directed by two-time Tony Award winner and Academy Award-nominated director Stephen Daldry. The screening features a live performance recorded during the original run of the production in London’s West End in 2013, and features the original West End cast.
Tickets for this showing may be purchased online at tickets.occc.edu or by phone at (405) 682-7579. Tickets will be $15 for adults and $5 for students and children. Tickets are also available for upcoming screenings of “Man and Superman” and “A Streetcar Named Desire.”
Oklahoma City Community College opened the doors to the 1,049-seat Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater in early 2014. It features a large atrium with three-story high windows, state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment and will allow the college to host larger Broadway-style touring productions. The Visual and Performing Arts Center also houses an art gallery and academic center featuring a rehearsal room, library, six classrooms, seven studios, seven labs and faculty offices.
