Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) welcomes Dr. Jerry Steward as the 10th president of the college Friday, Oct. 30. The Investiture ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater on OCCC’s main campus.
The investiture of a new president is an academic and formal ceremony presenting the authority and symbols of high office, and is held during the new president’s first year in office. Not only will students, faculty and staff be present for President Steward’s investiture ceremony, but community members, state and federal delegates will also take part in the ceremony.
In light of the investiture, a website has been launched to honor the occasion and the new president. President Steward’s website can be found at president.occc.edu. The website features information regarding the investiture along with President Steward’s biography and vision for the future of the college. Other college leadership information and history can also be found on the site. The website offers a unique opportunity for the OCCC population and community to get to know President Steward, his goals for the college, and his passion for education and the community.
OCCC serves more than 28,000 people each year. The college offers a full range of associate degree programs that prepare students to transfer to baccalaureate institutions while other degree and certificate programs prepare students for immediate employment in a variety of fields. At OCCC, students receive a quality education with small class sizes, dedicated teachers and leadership opportunities.
