OCCC keeps on giving with the 2015-2016 Performing Arts Series. Season six “American Idol” contestant Melinda Doolittle will bring holiday cheer to all in the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) Theater Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m.
Before “American Idol,” Doolittle sang background for well-known artists such as Peter Cetera, Cyndi Lauper and Boston Pops Orchestra. Fans of the show will recall, Doolittle placed third in season six, with many, including judge Simon Cowell, believing she should have been the winner.
Since her time on “American Idol,” she has performed at venues such as the White House, the Musicians Hall of Fame, the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall.
Doolittle will bring her soulful voice to favorite Christmas songs, along with originals. From sacred to Motown, Doolittle will not disappoint audiences eager to celebrate the holiday season.
The talented lineup of world-class productions in the series will continue by kicking off the New Year with the “Queen of Bluegrass” Rhonda Vincent and the Rage Friday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, Fiesta Mexico-Americana featuring Los Lobos and Ballet Folklorico Mexicano will be performing.
