WHEAT GERM
Instructions:
1)
Purchase raw wheat germ at a
health food store
2)
Aliquot 1.5ml of raw wheat germ
into a green microcentrifuge tube; store at 4°C for 1 month
SALT
Instructions:
1)
Purchase non-iodized or iodized
table salt at retail store
2)
Aliquot 1.5ml of table salt into
a blue microcentrifuge tube; store at room temperature indefinitely
DISHWASHING
LIQUID
·
Prepare a 50:50 solution; store at
room temperature
Instructions:
1)
Purchase preferably clear
dishwashing liquid at a retail store
2)
Prepare 50:50 solution by adding
100ml dishwashing liquid to 100ml distilled water
3)
Aliquot 1.5ml of the mix into a
pink/red microcentrifuge tube
ETHANOL
·
Prepare a 70% solution or
purchase 70% ethanol; store at 4°C indefinitely
Instructions:
1)
To prepare 70%, add 700ml of
ethanol to 300ml of distilled water and mix well
2)
Dispense about 7ml into 15ml
conical centrifuge tubes
PAPAIN
Instructions:
1)
Weigh out 6g of papain granules per 100ml of distilled water to make a
concentrated stock solution; store at 4°C for up to 60 days
2)
Set the heat on low and stir to
make an extract solution
3)
Filter through a coffee filter to
remove crude
4)
Filter sterilize, and then dilute
stock 1:10 with sterile distilled water to make a “ready-to-use” solution;
store at 4°C for up to 60 days
TO PREPARE DNAX KIT:
1) Two 2oz plastic cups
2) One 1ml transfer pipet
3) One tube of wheat germ, salt, soap, and papain
Store the ethanol separately, for it may leak out
