AGAROSE GEL:

Can cast a day or two before use;
store up to four in a Ziploc bag or plastic wrap; moisten with 1X TBE then
store in a container at room temp or in the refrigerator.
Instructions:
1)
Add 1.6g (0.8%); 2g (1%); 4g (2%)
electrophoresis grade agarose to 200ml of 1X TBE buffer.
2)
Stir to suspend.
3)
Heat uncovered in microwave until
dissolved. Monitor it carefully. A boiling water bath can also be used.
1)
Swirl the solution to see if it
is clear (no translucent grains).
2)
Cool to touch before
pouring. Pouring too hot will damage
casting trays. Remove the “skin” of
solidified agarose that may have formed on surface of solution before pouring.
