BROMOTHYMOL BLUE STOCK SOLUTION: *

· Make 100ml concentrate solution; store at room temperature indefinitely.

Instructions:

1) Weigh out 0.4g of bromothymol blue.

2) Add 100ml distilled water and mix well.

BROMOTHYMOL BLUE ELECTROPHORESIS SOLUTION:

· Make 1 liter for electrophoresis; store at room temperature indefinitely.

Instructions:

1) Mix 2ml of 0.4% BTB concentrate into 1000ml distilled water; store at room temperature indefinitely. If the solution starts to appear greenish, add a few drops of vinegar to change it back to golden yellow. Store at room temperature indefinitely.

* NOTE: If you do not have a balance that can weigh out 0.4 gm, then make a 10X solution by using 4 g. of bromothymol blue and dissolving in 100 mL distilled water; then make the 10X solution into desired concentration (1X) by taking 10 mL of 10X bromothymol blue and adding 90 mL distilled water to get correct final concentration.
