Biography

A 6th-Generation Oklahoman, M. Scott Carter has worked as a journalist for more than 40 decades. Carter holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Northern Oklahoma College, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Professional Writing from the University of Oklahoma.

Carter has earned awards for his writing and photography from the Associated Press, the National Magazine Publishers Association, the Society of Professional Journalists and the Oklahoma Press Association.

Carter is also a two-time finalist for the Oklahoma Book Award.

In 2012, his second novel, The Immortal Von B., was awarded the Oklahoma Book Award for YA Fiction. Carter also received Foreward Magazine’s Gold Award for YA Fiction and the Best YA Novel for 2012 from the National Association of Independent Book Publishers.

Carter and his wife, Karen, have six children. They live in Oklahoma City.
