A news release about Phil Gainer, OCCC Engineering Student, being selected to attend a three-day event at the Johnson Space Center in Houston May 20-22, 2010.  The National Community College Aerospace Scholars Program has selected 74 community or junior college students throughout the nation to form teams and establish fictional companies interested in Mars exploration.  Phil was the only student from Oklahoma selected to attend the event.

 A Student Profile about Phil Gainer was published in OCCC Connections 2010 - 2011 on page 5.  This Profile discussed his experience at NASA in May 2010.  At Johnson Space Center, the Community College Students formed fictional companies that were responsible for developing a prototype Mars rover which included line drawings, budgets, communications and presentations.  On-site experience included a tour of the facilities and briefings by NASA astronauts.  If you are interested in this NASA program for Community College students, please visit the following website:
