Online Technical SupportYou will need the following software installed on your computer:
Internet Browser
In order to view your online course you will need an internet browser on your computer. An internet browser allows you to view and navigate pages transmitted over the Internet. You have a browser installed if you are reading this page on the internet. Internet Explorer, and Mozilla are supported by WebCT and OCCC. These browsers may be downloaded from the links at the bottom of this page.
You will need to know how to use the basic features of a browser - these include:

Word Processing Software
You will need a word processing software in order to view, create, and edit documents for your online course. Word processing applications include Microsoft Word, WordPerfect and OpenOffice. See below for more information:
Microsoft Software Viewer
If you do not have Microsoft Office, the following free viewer downloads will allow you to view files created using Word (.doc), Excel (.xls), or PowerPoint (.ppt). You cannot create or edit documents with these viewers. For a free download click on the software button below:

OpenOffice.org
OpenOffice.org is an open source multi-platform office productivity suite. It includes a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation manager and drawing program with a user interface similar to Microsoft Office. OpenOffice.org will create, view, and edit documents in many formats including Microsoft Office. It works well with Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS X. Best of all it is FREE. Some OCCC Online Courses may require additonal software or browser plug-ins. There are free versions of all of these. If this software is not already installed on your computer, you may click on the links below to download a free version of the software you need.
Real Player
Real Player is a software that allows you to see and hear audio and video files without lengthy download times. You may need Real Player to view online course orientations and course content. For a free download of Real Player 10 click on the button below. There are several links on the page to buy Real Player (offering a free trial period), and one link to get it for free, be sure to click the correct link.
Windows Media Player
Some courses may have video or audio that can be played with Windows Media Player.
Some courses use browser plug-ins. To view portions of these courses, you may need one or more of these plug-ins.
Adobe Reader
Adobe Reader is a software that lets you view and print PDF (Portable Document Format) files. PDF files preserve all of the fonts, formatting, colors, and graphics of the document. For a free download of Adobe Reader, click on the button below:
Shockwave
Macromedia Shockwave is used in some courses for interactive quizzes, animations, and activities. For a free download, click the button below:
