A healthy community includes a thriving arts community
to support entertainment, personal enrichment, and quality of life.
- Dr. Paul Sechrist, President Emeritus OCCC
Cultural Programs is a Division within the OCCC Office of Community Development which aims to enrich the lives of students, staff, and the south Oklahoma City community at large by fostering a thriving arts environment.
Because art has both instrumental and intrinsic benefits for individuals and society at-large, the College believes that people, notwithstanding their station in life, should have the opportunity to actively engage in the arts both as participants and patrons. To this end, OCCC's Cultural Programs provide affordable or no-cost performing and visual arts experiences, as well as community arts outreach and education activities. Principal among these are:
- Arts Festival Oklahoma (AFO);
- The Cultural Arts Series (CAS);
- Community and College Engagement with Touring Artists (CCETA);
- Performing Arts for Schools (PAS); and
- Visiting Art Gallery Exhibits.
In addition, the Office of Cultural Programs oversees the use and rental of OCCC's Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater, the Bruce Owen Theater, and the Inasmuch Foundation Art Gallery.
To enrich the lives of students, staff, and our community through meaningful and unforgettable cultural arts and arts education experiences.
We offer the best and most affordable arts, entertainment, and arts education events in spaces where people come to relax, learn, appreciate, and have a good time.
