Existing Partnerships and New Programs

Oklahoma City Community College partners with businesses and economic development organizations to enhance and develop employee skills and to improve the economy of the community. Partnerships have been formed to assist in the training and skill enhancement process. The following describes a few of these partnerships.

ACDelco Knowledge Center - The first such center in the nation, trains students to become certified technicians. The center works with authorized ACDelco automotive repair shops and will serve as the model for other community colleges nationwide.

ACT Center - One of the first ACT Centers in the nation, provides thousands of on-line business training opportunities.

Bridgestone/Firestone - An agreement with Bridgestone/Firestone to train employees to become Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) certified and have the opportunity to earn an associate's degree, the first partnership of its kind in Oklahoma.

Career Transitions Program - Works in cooperation with the Department of Human Services and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education by providing vocational training and other support services to assist DHS-referred participants in becoming self-sufficient.

Downtown College Consortium - A collaboration of five institutions of higher education that provides training and educational opportunities for employees working in downtown Oklahoma City.

Employment Services - Serves as a liaison among employers, faculty and students, partnering to be responsive to hiring needs and facilitating contacts with the campus community. The College also provides the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission an office on campus to further assist the students and community with their employment needs.

Faculty Externships - Opportunities for faculty to work with businesses for mentoring and skills enhancement.

Oklahoma Alliance for Manufacturing Excellence - An alliance between the College and metropolitan manufacturing organizations to provide progressive leadership and training in the workplace.

Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology - Provides grant stipends for student research interns entering the biotechnology industry.

Professional Development Institute at Oklahoma City Community College provides a broad range of customized training and educational programs to central Oklahoma business, industry, government agencies and non-profit organizations. Services include workforce development, continuing professional education and online distance education.

Workforce Oklahoma - Partners in the development of a workforce system to serve central Oklahoma businesses and individuals.

Oklahoma City Community College is continuously designing new programs to meet workforce needs and to enhance Oklahoma's economy. The College continues to serve as a major partner in the economic development efforts of the community, working with numerous partners including the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and several Chambers of Commerce. The success of Oklahoma City Community College can be attributed to the generous support for economic development and a dedicated faculty and staff.
