STUDENT SCHEDULE CHILD CARE

Student scheduled child care services for children whose parent/guardians are taking classes is available at the OCCC Child Development Center and Lab School. Reservations are required. Please call 682-7561 for reservations.
 
SSCC Session Schedule
Session One            7:30-10:45 a.m. (M-F)
Session Two           11:00-2:15 p.m. (M-F)
Session Three         2:30-5:30 p.m. (M-Th)
Session Four           5:30-close (M-Th, as needed)
 
SSCC Fees
$15.00 per session, per child, per day
$25.00 activity fee per semester per child

TRADITIONAL SCHEDULE CHILD CARE

The Child Development Center and Lab School is open to the community, OCCC staff, and students. Our full time hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. We accept children from six weeks of age until the July prior to the child's eligibility to enter Kindergarten.

Mission Statement

We believe children are unique, capable, creative, problem-solvers, and eager to learn. The CDCLS Staff is committed to designing and implementing a safe, friendly, nurturing, environment, which promotes high quality care, and physical, intellectual, and social-emotional developmental growth, in a collaborative effort with children, families, community, and one another.

Philosophy

The program considers the development of the whole child and concentrates on children as unique individuals, allowing each child to develop at his/her own pace. Each child and family member is treated with respect and dignity. Play is recognized as the direct avenue to learning, realizing the vital importance of discovery, investigation, creativity, and problem-solving opportunities. Partnerships with parents are identified as a key component in creating a collaborative team for the purpose of cultural awareness and raising children to become productive and responsible citizens.

Program Goals and Objectives

Our primary goal is to provide a positive atmosphere for children and families, which will promote all areas of a young child's growth and development, and increase parent's knowledge about young children.

The child will develop:

  • a healthy self-concept
  • socially and emotionally
  • an enjoyment of creative experiences and fine arts
  • a trust in adults and peers
  • an independence and responsibility for self
  • a sense of security and success
  • skills in the physical, cognitive, social, and linguistic domains

Objectives are developed from the content areas of classroom and teacher child-directed projects, activities, and lessons.

Our primary goals for parents and families are to:

  • benefit from the resources available related to parenting and child development
  • have an opportunity to attend a variety of training opportunities
  • experience open communication with your child's school
  • have opportunities to become actively involved with your child's school
