Description: Students will survey the history of the major civilizations of Mesoamerica, Africa, Asia, and Europe from 1600 C.E. to the present. After studying these civilizations in a comparative framework, students will be able to identify major patterns of political, economic, social, and cultural change and conflict over a period in which contact between civilizations became more frequent and sustained and the West rose to world prominence.
