About the Academy

Twenty-four high school juniors and seniors will assemble at Oklahoma City Community College for one week's immersion in biotechnology* and bioinformatics**. All students will experience basic techniques and use cutting edge tools in these exciting life science fields. occc has state-of-the-art facilities for these subjects. Teams of students will work closely with faculty investigating a topic of their choosing. Planning for college and pathways to science careers are also introduced. The week will culminate with a Friday evening reception for students, faculty, and parents, which features student presentations of their findings. Transportation to and from the college must be provided by the student. Lunch and snacks will be provided at the workshop. Students who complete all the activities will receive a $100 stipend.
