SOP (Standard Opertating
Procedure
Spectrafuge Microcentrifuge
- Plug
in power cord from micro centrifuge into the wall socket.
- Press
on lid switch (located at bottom right) to open the lid. You should hear a click when it is
opened correctly.
- Remove
plastic cap off the rotor by gently pulling up on the stainless steel
knob.
- Before
placing your tube in the sample container double check the tube! Make sure it’s snapped down tightly.
5. Tubes must be in balanced configuration before
running. This means you
must place a tube of similar size and
sample volume (can use water) opposite each
tube.
6. Replace the plastic cap on the rotor and close the outer lid.
7. Set the speed and time (these will vary with each procedure):
- The speed control knob (smaller &
located bottom left) measures rpms.
Each increment is 1000 rpm, so to set it for 3000 rpm, you’d set it
on 3.
- The
time control knob (larger & located bottom right) measures
minutes. Set it according to the
lab directions. *Note: for quick
spins (no set speed/time) just use the quick spin switch (located on
bottom left). However you must continually hold the switch down for the
desired time you want. Quick spins
are used to pool all liquids in the tube to the bottom for good mixing.
8. When the run is over, you
can open lid, remove plastic cap and remove your sample tubes. Then replace the plastic cap over the rotor and close the outer
lid when finished.
