Almost 30,000 people attended this four-day Labor Day weekend festival, held on September 2-5, 2005. The arts tents highlighted the work of 169 fine artists and crafters, including Featured Artist Jim Horton, whose work was showcased on the 2005 festival poster. Best of Show was won by artist Robert Carver.
Headline entertainers were the Buck Ram Platters, Shenandoah, and the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra. Their performances were rounded out with appearances by a wide range of local performers, including guitarist Edgar Cruz, Japanese drum corps Oki Taiko, blues singer Debbie Henning, and classic rock band Low Maintenance.
"Labor Day weekend means summer's end to some, but thousands of people know it's time for the 27th annual Arts Festival Oklahoma today through Monday at Oklahoma City Community College. . . . The free festival has a winning combination of arts, crafts, food, music, and other entertainment and children's activities. The festival began originally to promote state artists and has grown to now include work by more than 150 painters, potters, glass workers, jewelers, woodworkers, and others from Arkansas, Texas, Iowa, Nebraska, California, Kansas, Colorado, and Missouri.
The Children's Creative Area is full of fun. For $1 per child, they can play in a giant sandbox, create original art, have their faces painted and perhaps meet the festival's mascot, Seemore Art."

"Every year, it gets bigger and better. We're talking about Arts Festival Oklahoma, scheduled each Labor Day weekend on the campus of Oklahoma City Community College. For more than 27 years, this festival has drawn 30,000 folks out there each year. . . . More than 150 visual artists from across the country will have their art works on view and for sale including pottery, sculpture, paintings, photography, glasswork, jewelry, woodwork and other hand-made items. Through the Children's Creative Center, Arts Festival Oklahoma offers thousands of children an introduction to the arts. The 15 food booths will offer a variety of delectables."
