At Oklahoma City Community College, there are two options for students interested in this career field:
- A certificate of mastery in insurance: This program teaches the skills needed for entry-level positions with opportunities for advancement in the insurance industry without the general education requirements needed for an associate degree.
- An associate degree in applied science with an emphasis in business with a general option : The credits earned in the certificate of mastery in insurance program can apply toward this degree. The finance program prepares management trainees to work in customer service or credit departments at financial institutions.
But, if you are interested in transferring your business degree to a four-year college or university, talk with an academic advisor. You probably want an associate degree in science in business rather than an associate degree in applied science.

Anita Williams has been a Professor of Business and Chair of the Finance Program at Oklahoma City Community College for twenty years. Prior to that, she was the Coordinator for the Finance Program for ten years, after working in the banking industry.
